Frequently Asked Questions

  • There is only one way to find out, which is by giving it a try! If you are looking into therapy, chances are, a part of you knows you could benefit from it in some way. However, not all therapies are the same. At BA Healing we offer in depth, long term therapy that goes beyond symptom reduction and coping skills - though you can expect to experience reduction and develop new coping skills in the process. All of our therapists use trauma-informed methods including top-down and bottom up approaches in their clinical practice. This means they will be able to help you heal your deepest wounds that go beyond the surface of thoughts and behaviors for true change in your relationship to self, your relationships with others in your life, increased sense of empowerment, agency and self understanding.

On our Services and Home page, we list some common symptoms of trauma and adversity - if you don’t feel like these symptoms match your experience, but still think you could benefit from therapy, contact us for a consultation o see if we can help. Together with your therapist, you will have the opportunity to co-create your goals for your work with us at BA Healing.

  • The specialized therapies we offer at BA Healing require extensive training, time and investment in learning and as well as experience to be practiced effectively. For example, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, which owner Laura Reagan, LCSW-C is trained in through Level 2, requires a training process spanning more than 150 hours over 18 months at a cost of thousands of dollars. Laura also holds a certificate in Advanced Trauma Treatment - Level 2 from the Ferentz Institute (more than 50 hours over 4 months) and multiple levels of training in Brainspotting. The same is true of Somatic Experiencing - a multi-year process - which Tanory Ateek is trained in. This does not include the certification level, which neither Laura nor Tanory have pursued thus far. Emily Francis and Martina Samuel have completed Basic EMDR therapy training as well as advanced trainings (Attachment Focused EMDR and Attachment Informed EMDR), at a cost of thousands of dollars and many hours of training and practice. Further, Emily Francis, LCPC has committed to the process of becoming EMDRIA certified in EMDR. She is currently in the process of becoming an EMDR Consultant.

For clients, therapy is also a significant investment in time, money and emotional energy.

It is important to weigh the financial cost and time commitment of therapy - as financial security certainly factors into our mental health! You are worth the time and effort.

However, if BA Healing is not the right place for you due to finances, we understand. It’s important to ensure you will be able to meet your other financial needs while engaged in a therapeutic process. We invite you to weigh carefully the costs and potential benefits of beginning therapy at this time, and to consider other therapy options if working with us is not possible for your budget; your mental health is your priority!

BA Healing is a locally owned and operated psychotherapy practice. We are not backed by Venture Capital and we don’t accept insurance. We do provide Superbills to help facilitate accessing Out of Network benefits, when they are available through your insurance provider. We also accept HSA/FSA cards for payment.

  • No; we are not in-network with any insurance companies.  If you have mental health insurance benefits with your insurance provider you may be eligible to submit a claim for reimbursement of out-of-network services provided by an LCSW-C , LCPC, or LMSW.

We will provide a Superbill at your request. More information on this is provided below.

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost if you are not using your insurance. This will be provided to you at minimum one (1) business day before your first appointment.

The fees listed above represent the full fees you should expect to pay for each therapy session with us. We do not do “balance billing” since we are not In Network with any insurance companies.

We are required by the No Suprises Act to let you know that If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. For more information regarding Good Faith Estimates please visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

  • If you would like to submit a claim to your insurance provider for out of network benefits, you must first ask a few questions. The answers can be found through your insurance provider. The phone number should be on the back of your insurance card or you may be able to find the answers on your insurance company's website.

    2. If I have mental health benefits, are out-of-network benefits included?

    3. Is any pre-approval required before obtaining out-of-network mental health services in order to be reimbursed?

    4. If I have out-of-network benefits, will I be reimbursed the full amount I paid or a portion?

    5. If I have out-of-network benefits, must I select a therapist from a list or can I choose any provider?

    6. Are services by a clinical social worker (LCSW-C), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) and/or Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor (LGPC) covered?

    7. What is the amount I will be reimbursed for these session codes: 90791, 90837, 90834, 90846, 90847, 90853 ?
